The great choreographer Mathilde Monnier brings to the stage texts by nine women authors – from Alice Zeniter to Siri Hustvedt, Lola Lafon and Monica Sabolo – written for the television programme H24, a manifesto series about violence against women in everyday life, bringing together a collective of actresses and dancers of different ages and backgrounds. Their dances and voices speak of acts of resistance, banal incidents and recurring aggressions. A stand-up set, a poetic statement, but above all a wonderful piece of dance, Black Lights observes, describes, points to violence and its effects, questions the gaze that is turned or averted, in order to harness, through sisterhood and dance, the radiant energy of a lucid anger that has become fully-fledged confidence.
